Community. Transparency. Advocacy.

As your MESD Director I will work towards:

Breaking down learning barriers for kids and make decisions with a trauma-informed lens.

Building transparent relationships where every voice has a say in decisions.

Work towards recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and staff that reflect our community.

Uplift an equitable system that is rooted in restorative justice to keep our kids learning and in school.

Advocate to ensure every student has access to comprehensive and quality health services.

Community

I center the communities that are most vulnerable within the system. These are the communities most impacted by the decisions made at the political and policy levels. As someone who is in this position, I believe it is my responsibility to actively listen to their needs, build relationships with them, and support them in any way I can. By uplifting their voices and advocating for their concerns, I aim to foster trust and ensure that resources are directed toward the communities that need them most. Ultimately, my platform is about creating a more just and equitable system that responds to the needs of those who have historically been left out.

Transparency

I value transparency because, as someone who has experience both as an advocate and now in this position that holds power and privilege, I understand the crucial role transparency plays in ensuring accountability. Transparency allows us to identify inequities within the system, such as biases and abuse of power, and to address them directly. It also improves access to resources by making it clear when and how important decisions are being made. A transparent decision-making process ensures that the allocation of resources, funding, and services is equitable and focused on supporting vulnerable communities. It helps expose where disparities exist within the system and who is responsible them, which in turn guides us to take meaningful action.

Advocacy

As an advocate now in this position , I understand the deep importance of advocacy, especially in fighting for the rights and addressing the disparities faced by our most vulnerable communities. Advocacy is central to my work—it not only allows me to be at the table, asking the hard questions, but also to create new opportunities that others might not have considered. It uplifts and supports vulnerable communities by giving them the tools and platform to voice their concerns. I feel my role is to support them by being that voice at the table, while also encouraging and facilitating their active participation in these conversations, so they can advocate for themselves.
